I'm not running away from Lembah Pantai, says Nurul Izzah

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Nurul Izzah Anwar has denied she that is running away from Lembah Pantai in favour of a safer seat in Permatang Pauh in the 14th General Election.

The decision to move, she claimed, was done by PKR’s top leadership.

Nurul Izzah, who is the daughter of PKR’s Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said even if she wins the Permatang Pauh seat, her service centre in Lembah Pantai would remain open.

“I’m not running away. My service centre in Lembah Permai will remain open,” she said following claims that a lack of support in Lembah Pantai had forced her to shift to Permatang Pauh.

She also believes that the people of Lembah Pantai still look upon her favourably.

“Maybe many people there are missing me although I am no longer contesting there,” she added.

She was speaking at a press conference with other PKR candidates in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency in Yayasan Aman on Tuesday.

Prior to this, Barisan Nasional’s candidate for the Lembah Pantai parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, had claimed that Nurul Izzah had abandoned her constituents after serving them for two term.

This election, PKR is fielding Nurul Izzah’s special officer, Fahmi Fadzil, against Raja Nong Chik.
