SEGAMAT: The Barisan Nasional candidate for the Tenang state seat Mohd Azahar Ibrahim took time off from campaigning last night to watch the live telecast of Super League soccer match between JDT and Selangor.
Mohd Azahar, or more fondly known as Tok Ai, joined JDT supporters in Pekan Air Panas and neighbouring villagers in a show of support for the Harimau Selatan team.
He said after hitting the campaign trail since nomination day last Saturday, this was the best ‘break’ he had had.
“As they say, sports has the power to unify. Although we may have different political beliefs, we are united when it comes to supporting our home team JDT.
“I hope everyone can forget our differences for a while, and come together for a common cause over the next 90 minutes ,” said Tok Ai, who loves spending his time with youths because he believes these are the people who will shape the nation’s future.
“What better way to come together if not through sports. Soccer is one good example.”
“I call everyone to take a breather and enjoy the game,” said Tok Ai.
At GE14, incumbent Tok Ai will defend his seat against Mohd Solihan Badri (Pakatan) and Nasharudin Awang (PAS).
