Public sector employees urged to exercise rights and vote

PASIR GUDANG: Public sector employees are urged to exercise their rights and vote in the 14th General Election on Wednesday.

Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa said the elections is the time to choose the best government to represent them.

“This elections, we hope that all the public sector staff take the time to vote in their constituencies. As Malaysians, they also have the right to choose. Cast your vote responsibly,” he told a Press conference after launching SJKT Pasir Gudang Sports Day on Sunday.

On claims that the government staff were not free to choose their representatives on polling day, Ali said no instruction was ever issued to compel them to vote for certain parties.

On a different matter, Ali said he would be doing rounds nationwide to convey government’s messages and visit sickly retirees.

“We want to inform the employees on the development in the country, efforts carried out by the government and benefits enjoyed by its staff.

“It is important for them to know the improvement made and appreciate all the benefits that we have been receiving. The government strives to fullfill the needs of the people, including those working in the public sector,” he said.

During the event, Ali also announced a RM115,000 allocation from Puspanita for the school meant for sports development, repairworks and financial aid for the underprivileged pupils.

Ali was accompanied by wife Puan Seri Rohani Abdullah, who was also the president of National Association of Wives of Civil Servants and Women Civil Servants (Puspanita).
