SUNGAI BESAR: Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos has been chosen as the national level Umno Youth wing chief candidate.
The Sungai Besar Umno Youth wing had unanimously chosen Jamal at the party’s delegates meeting held in Sekin Hotel and Resort today.
Jamal had garnered 152 votes, beating eight of his contenders.
Apart from Jamal, the party’s Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Asyraf Wadji Dusuki received 32 votes, Abdul Razak Mohamed Yusof 7 votes, while Imbran Afham Armen and Mohd Nor Izzat Mohd Johari obtained 2 votes each.
Three other nominees, Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun, WanMd Hazlin Agly Wan Hassan and Syed Rosli Syed Harman, did not get any votes from the delegates.
Meanwhile, Jamal had also sent a video clip in which he expressed gratitude to the delegates for choosing him to vie for Umno Youth number 1 post.
In the video clip lasting 22 seconds which he had sent via the Whatsapp application, Jamal, was seen clad in a blue shirt and black jacket; and in a moving vehicle the destination of which was unknown.
He gave ‘a million thanks’ to the Sungai Besar Umno Youth wing for giving him a huge majority.
“This is the first step and an early, good sign for me. Thank you. I have won at the division (Sungai Besar),” he said.
