Khairul Azwan pledges to assist Asyraf Wajdi in restoring Umno Youth

IPOH: Senator Khairul Azwan Harun today pledged to assist Umno Youth to enter the era of restoration and resurrection, despite losing to Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki in his run for the Umno Youth chief position in the party elections.

Khairul in his Facebook post congratulated Asyraf for winning the post and hoped that Umno Youth would reunite, forgive each other and stay together to move forward.

“We are now the opposition and it is our responsibility to be the authoritative opposition and the best alternative for the people,” he said.

He also hoped that the newly-elected Umno Youth chief would consider reforming his manifestos that were highlighted during his campaign.

“Among them are to set the age limit of the Umno Youth chief and Youth membership in 2021, to simplify membership registration and to allow the wing members to directly vote for the leaders of the wing to ensure that money politics is eliminated,” he said.

Khairul stressed that he would not resign and would continue working as a senator at Dewan Negara until end of his term.

“I will do my best to become a fair Dewan Negara member and to support any laws that are relevant as well as to be critical when the laws are not suitable for Malaysians.

“Regardless of the parties that you support, we now fight for Malaysia to be more successful,” he said.

In his post, Khairul also expressed his appreciation towards Umno Youth members for their friendship and unwavering support during his stint as its vice-chief.
