Negeri's PKR opens for re-election

SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is on standby should the Central Electoral Committee (JPP) decides to hold a re-election in the Jelebu Division, following technical problems at the party’s poll last Saturday.

State PKR chairman Aminuddin Harun said he had been informed that the problem in Jelebu was due to a weak Internet connection in the area.

“Because of this, there had been some technical problems which caused voting process through tablet devices could not be executed.

“If the re-election is held, I will ask for another location with a better Internet connectivity so that voting can be done smoothly,” he said when met here, today.

He said those who were dissatisfied with the recent polling outcome could bring the matter to PKR headquarters for further action.

PKR Jelebu Division today lodged a police report urging the JPP to recount all votes, including 315 votes categorised as spoilt in the division on Saturday.

The division’s head Mohamed Zabidi Abdullah, who was declared the winner for the post with a majority of three votes over his opponent, urged for recounting to be done to appease all parties.

Mohamed Zabidi was declared victory after receiving 178 votes, compared to his opponents Yus Mazmi Mohamad Yusof (175) and Maslan Yusuf (69).

Yesterday, JPP chairman Datuk Rashid Din had reportedly said that the official results for Melaka and Negeri Sembilan which should have been posted on the website www.pemilihankeadilan2018’s yesterday, had to be postponed due to technical problems.

Meanwhile, Aminuddin, who is Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, said the percentage of voter turnout in the state’s PKR election was satisfying.

“We have recorded 25 per cent of voters and that is good enough. I believe this is the spirit of the new government,” he said.

Commenting on his success in winning PKR Tampin Division head post, Aminuddin said the decision clearly showed that PKR’s election was a ‘family’ election.

“Like any competition, there will be winners and losers, with sad and happy emotions, but the state election had been very good. Although there were some problems, they were manageable,” he said.
