2018 Selangor DAP convention passes seven resolutions

PETALING JAYA: The 2018 Selangor DAP Convention approved seven resolutions, including urging the government to continue investigating the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.

The party also urged the Selangor government to re-implement elections for local councils to widen democracy as well as provide local candidates access to key posts in local assemblies.

It also urged the federal government to remain committed to abolishing the Sedition Act and other acts that oppress the people.

The resolution was unanimously approved by the delegates present after being announced by the speaker, Leong Yu Man, who is also Triang assemblyman.

A total of 756 delegates out of 1,092 members were eligible to attend the convention.

DAP Selangor also stated its full support for the 2019 Budget and that it would help the people of Selangor to fully understand its contents by holding briefings, as well as question and answer and publicity sessions.

It also called on the federal government to implement Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto with regard to the addition of 10,000 public buses nationwide within the first term of administration as a step towards improving the public transport system in the country.

The party also called for the continuation of reforms in the police force, such as the establishment of the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) and other policy changes to restore the people’s confidence in the police.

Apart from that, it also called for the recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) to be equivalent to existing general qualifications for admission to public institutions of higher learning. – Bernama
