Kit Siang's statement a reminder to DAP members to work towards right path

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang saying that the party would leave Pakatan Harapan (PH) if the government did not achieve its objectives is a reminder to everyone in the party to work towards the right path.

Several PH leaders opined that the reminder from a pioneer should not be misunderstood and related to other current issues.

Amanah secretary general Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir said Kit Siang’s remarks were that of a veteran leader who should be respected by all so that the government’s mission would not fail.

He said the reminder clearly showed that PH should prioritise its main objectives and mandates given by the people.

“This is a principal remark from a respected veteran leader and we should not dispute it as it has been agreed in the PH presidential council,” he said when asked to comment on Kit Siang’s statement.

Yesterday, Kit Siang said DAP would not become MCA2 or a party that only focussed on the Chinese majority.

Kit Siang, who made the remark through a statement posted in his blog, said DAP leaders in the government also played an important role in developing New Malaysia.

Anuar said currently PH was stable and was on the right path.

PKR vice president Tian Chua said the party was confident that the objectives of New Malaysia would be achieved.

“All Pakatan partners are committed to our common goal. We will stick together to fulfill the people’s expectation,” he said when contacted.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Srikandi chief Datuk Seri Rina Harun said the six months to achieve New Malaysia after the general election was not sufficient.

Hence, she said, everyone in the party should work together and help each other to ensure that the objectives were fulfilled.
