PH's Aiman says despite losing polls, he will continue to help Semenyih folk

KAJANG: Despite losing the by-election today, Pakatan Harapan candidate Muhammad Aiman Zainali promised to continue serving the Semenyih people.

When met by the media after the announcement, he said he accepted the defeat with open heart and was grateful to be part of the democratic process.

He polled 17,866 votes while Barisan Nasional’s Zakaria Hanafi garnered 19,780.

"I will continue offering my services to the people here and help them in anyway that I can.

"My struggle does not end here. I will not forget the people. Thank you all for coming out to vote." he said.

Meanwhile, independent candidate Kuan Chee Heng, or better known as Uncle Kentang, in his Facebook page, said he has fulfilled one of his ambitions which was to contest in an election.

He said he had predicted to get between 50 to 100 votes. Today, despite losing his deposit, received a total of 725 votes.

“I had crossed (out) one of my own dreams. To contest in an election. Thank you mom and dad. Rest well in heaven. I did my best.

“Knowing I will lose but I did what I always wanted to do. In life, we must be bold to represent the poor, and sick, and the bullied.

“It doesn't matter that I didn't win, but I am happy because as an SPM holder, I manage to contest in a by-election. The important thing is I carried on with what I believe in,” he wrote.

Kuan also indicated that he would contest in the next general election at the Puchong parliamentary seat.
