Anwar: I appreciate Dr Mahathir's confidence in me [NSTTV]

SEREMBAN: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his appreciation on the confidence placed on him by Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

In a special interview published by the New Straits Times today , Dr Mahathir had described the Port Dickson Member of Parliament as a better choice to replace Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman had remarked that Najib was a worst leader. To have Anwar replace him was far more acceptable than to have Najib carry on as the Prime Minister.

The Langkawi Member of Parliament had said that despite what he and Anwar had remarked about each other in the past, he admitted that working together with Anwar was far more important than letting Najib continue as Prime Minister, which he said would be disastrous for the country.

When asked to comment on the matter, Anwar said he had read the interview and was grateful on the confidence showed by Dr Mahathir on him.

“I really appreciate it,” he said.

On Dr Mahathir’s comment that Najib was the worst leader, Anwar said he echoed a similar sentiment.

“Based on the loss and the way Najib handles his family and personal interests, I think Dr Mahathir’s review is accurate,” he said when met after a meet-with-the-voters session at Kampung Sega Tengah here, today.

Also present was PH’s candidate, Dr S Streram.
