Amanah gives full support to Dr M's leadership; awaits Agong's decree

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) strategy director Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said that Pakatan Harapan (PH) is still the government, despite the current turbulence in the country’s political scene.

He added that the Health Ministry, which he heads, will carry out its duties as normal.

Dr Dzulkefly said that PH component parties will abide by the consensus reached by the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council recently.

“We will go back to that and give our full support.

“We are still the government of the day,” said Dr Dzulkefly during the National Fatigue Management Awareness Campaign and Seminar for Healthcare Providers at AC Hotel by Marriot here, today.

Meanwhile, Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Mahfuz Omar, who was also present at the event, said that there is undivided support by the party for Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“The decision at the Presidential Council to give full support to the Prime Minister’s leadership remains. The power transition will be entirely up to him to decide,” he said.

He also denied knowledge of a new ‘Pakatan Nasional’ being formed.

“The issue of Muafakat Nasional, Pakatan Nasional, Barisan Nasional ... we do not know where it came from. We don’t think this is what the rakyat want.

“The rakyat want stability, not to let the previous government make a comeback,” he said, adding that the previous party was already deemed kleptocratic, referring to Umno under Barisan Nasional.

Mahfuz also said that the Prime Minister once referred to Umno as a “badly damaged party.”

When asked whether Amanah would join the new Pakatan Nasional, and the possibility that Dr Mahathir would lead the new coalition – which would include Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Umno and Pas – he said that they will “wait until it really happens.”

Mahfuz, who is also an Amanah vice-president, said that he knows nothing about a new list of Cabinet ministers (Pakatan Nasional Cabinet) which has been circulating on social media.
