Dr M back in office after audience with YDP Agong

PUTRAJAYA: Interim Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is back at his office in the Perdana Putra building, here, after having an audience with the King at Istana Negara.

It is believed that he was summoned by

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, over the selection of the eighth prime minister and the nation's current political situation.

He arrived at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) at 12.24pm with his official car bearing the license plate "Malaysia 2020".

The Langkawi member of parliament looked glum when he waved at press members waiting outside the PMO.

Dr Mahathir is expected to announce the Economic Stimulus Package at 3pm today.

Earlier, Dr Mahathir arrived at Istana Negara at 10.57am and left the palace grounds at about noon.

While most media personnel were waiting to get a glimpse of him at Gate 2, it is learnt that he accessed the Palace via Gate 1.

It is learned that Chief Justice Tan Sri Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat was also expected to have an audience with the Ruler at the palace.
