PH leaders convene at PJ hotel

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council leaders have convened for a meeting at Eastin Hotel here.

The location was changed at the last minute, forcing media members, some of whom had earlier gathered at PKR headquarters, to rush over.

They were however stopped from entering the building by security personnel.

PH yesterday announced PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as its candidate for prime minister.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa, who had meetings with all members of Parliament, was reported to have given them two options; whether to nominate their candidate for prime minister or choose snap elections.

This was following the resignation of prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was later appointed the interim prime minister by the King, effectively dissolving the Cabinet.

The country's politics fell into the state of uncertainty when Barisan Nasional and Pas announced that they have the support of majority in the Parliament to form a new government.
