Kelantan govt praises PM for having new Cabinet members screened by MACC

KOTA BARU: Kelantan’s Pas-led government has praised Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for submitting the names of all new Cabinet members for screening by the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Lauding it as the right move, Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the move ensures that all ministers and deputy ministers in the new Cabinet are free of wrongdoing.

"The move to submit names for screening by the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is a new move introduced by the Prime Minister which must be praised by everybody," he said.

Ahmad, who is also Pas deputy spiritual leader, said the decision to include Cabinet members from various backgrounds and fields was a big change.

"The Prime Minister has included experts from various fields such as religion, law and finance.

"They are good in their own fields and l believe that they can handle the tasks well for the sake of the people," he added.

When announcing the new Cabinet line-up on Monday, Muhyiddin said that the members had their names cleared by the police and MACC, and that all have accredited credentials.
