Muhyiddin hopes Tun M and PH leaders will endorse new govt

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has expressed hope that his predecessor, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and other Pakatan Harapan leaders would endorse the new government.

The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president said he had sent a letter to the former prime minister to apologise if he had offended the Langkawi member of parliament and called for truce.

“I also asked if I could have a meeting with him (Dr Mahathir), but his reply was that he was not ready to meet. I’m ready any time.

“I want him to endorse this government. (This government) is legal and constitutional.

“People are hoping that this government will deliver, and we promise to deliver,” he said at a press conference after chairing his first Cabinet meeting today.

Muhyiddin added that it was not the right time to hold snap polls, adding that the new government was here to serve.

“I wish that everybody, not just Dr Mahathir, would give us the encouragement for us to do our best.”
