Security tightened outside Sabah state palace

KOTA KINABALU: Security has been increased along Jalan Istana, here, leading up to the state palace.

Police were seen guarding the area as soon as former Sabah chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman held a press conference at his residence earlier today.

The two paths leading to the state palace appear to be closed to the public as police turned away several civilian cars heading there.

Several members of the press started camping outside the palace gates after it was rumoured that Musa would seek an audience with Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin tonight.

The situation here remains under control and Musa's car has not been spotted heading inside the palace grounds.

Musa earlier announced that he had enough support to form a state government with a simple majority, indicating a potential collapse of the Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) led government, headed by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
