Ismail Sabri: Leave discussions on Umno - Pas alliance to Umno Supreme Council [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The status of the Umno-Pas alliance in the coming general election (GE15) will be discussed by the Umno Supreme Council.

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this today, echoing party deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan's views on the matter.

He said the matter would be discussed in the supreme council meeting to be held on a date yet to be set.

"The party listens to views of all, be it the branches or divisions.

"Meanwhile, any decision will be made in the meeting," he told reporters after attending Semarak Patriotik IPT 2022 held at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) today.

Bernama yesterday reported that "the pros and cons of negotiating with PAS would be discussed only if the matter was raised at the Supreme Council meeting slated to take place later this month".

Mohamad also reiterated that Barisan Nasional had so far decided to go solo in GE15, but had yet to discuss potential candidates and seat allocations.

He was responding to Pas secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan's statement that it would continue to consider Umno and all parties under the umbrella of ummah unity as ta'awun partners (cooperation partners).
