Tajuddin shows support for Pasir Salak candidate

PASIR SALAK: Despite not being picked to defend his seat in the 15th General Election, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman turned up to lend his support to the Barisan Nasional candidate for Pasir Salak on nomination day.

Tajuddin and his supporters arrived and gathered as early as 8am before marching to the nomination centre, the Central Perak District Administration Complex, and cheered loudly as the candidates entered the hall.

More than 500 supporters for BN, Pakatan Harapan (PH), Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) marched and cheered for their respective candidates.

The Pasir Salak parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15) this time will see a four-cornered clash between BN, PH, PN and GTA.

It will feature BN candidate Khairul Azwan Harun going up against Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz (PH), Jamaluddin Yahya (PN) and Zairol Hizam Zakaria (GTA).

Meanwhile, for the Sungai Manik state seat, incumbent Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin (PN) will be going up against Mohamad Maharani Md Tasi (PH) and Datuk Ibrahim Katop (BN).

Similarly, the Kampong Gajah state seat will see the incumbent, Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin (BN) competing against Zafarulazlan Zan (PN), Safian Sauri Pandak Abdul Samad (GTA) and PH's Mohd Syamsul Alauddin.

Tajuddin, who is also the Pasir Salak Umno division chief and former deputy agriculture and agro-based industry minister, served for three terms in the Pasir Salak parliamentary constituency since 2008.

He is also a former member of the Umno supreme council and was one of the "big names" dropped by BN for this general election.
