Dr M, 12 others leave Pejuang

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Parti Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is among 13 leaders that have left the party following its decision to cut ties with Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA).

In a letter to Pejuang secretary general Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah, which was signed by the leaders, the group said Pejuang's decision has directly expelled them from remaining as party members as they have decided to continue their struggles under GTA.

"For us, the purpose of GTA is to unite Malay parties, non-governmental organisations and principled individuals who hold to the struggle of defending the religion, race and country.

"With that, we chose to continue this struggle with GTA."

Besides Dr Mahathir, other leaders who signed the letter include former deputy president Datuk Marzuki Yahya and Dr Mahathir's political secretary Abu Bakar Yahya.

The letter was posted on Marzuki's Facebook page.
