Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi confirms he met with Bersatu's leaders recently

KOTA BARU: Gua Musang member of parliament Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, who recently declared his support to the prime minister's administration today admitted that he had recently met with a few leaders from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

Speaking to reporters on the first day of the Kelantan state assembly sitting here today, Azizi, who is also Nenggiri assemblyman, said among the leaders he met were Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and secretary-general Datuk Hamzah Zainudin.

"I met them personally recently. This is not an official meeting as I was not called yet by the party's disciplinary board," he said.

At today's state assembly sitting, Azizi said he remained at the same seat and has no plan to move to the opposition side.

"I am still the assemblyman for the Pas-led state government and my recent decision (to declare support to the prime minister) was only as the Gua Musang MP as stated in my statement.

"I have yet to make decision as the Nenggiri assemblyman and so far, I have no plan to change seats (at the Kelantan state assembly sitting)," he added.

Earlier this month, Azizi became the first among a group of opposition MPs who to declare his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the unity government.

Another two Bersatu MPs who did the same were Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) and Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar).

Azizi, who contested on a Pas ticket during the 15th General Election, had said that the move would allow his constituents to enjoy all sorts of benefits and initiatives, including the upgrading of infrastructure facilities which he had requested for Gua Musang during his tenure.

Jeli MP Zahari Kechik was the other Bersatu MP from Kelantan who also declared his support to Anwar's administration. He had also done so for the sake of his constituents.
