Official results: PN retains Kemaman with 37,220 majority [NSTTV]

KEMAMAN: Perikatan Nasional (PN) continues its dominance in Terengganu after Pas candidate Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar won the Kemaman parliamentary seat by-election today.

Ahmad Samsuri, popularly known as Dr Sam among voters, secured 64,998 votes, while Barisan Nasional's General (Rtd) Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor bagged 27,778 votes.

This was announced by the Election Commission returning officer Ahmad Farhan Abdul Wahab at Dewan Berlian of the Kemaman Municipal Council tallying centre at 10.10pm.

There were 428 spoilt votes, while the voter turnout for the by-election was 65 per cent.

Ahmad Samsuri, also the Terengganu menteri besar and Pas vice-president, won by a 37,220 majority, surpassing the previous majority by 10,041 votes.

In the 15th General Election (GE15), PN's candidate, Che Alias Hamid, secured a majority of 27,179 votes, defeating three other contenders.

BN's Datuk Seri Ahmad Said garnered 38,535 votes, while two other contenders were Rosli Ab. Ghani (Pejuang) and Hasuni Sudin (Pakatan Harapan) obtained 506 votes and 8,340 votes, respectively.
