Cooperation between Warisan-Umno Sabah will not do jeopardise unity government

PUTRAJAYA: The collaboration between Warisan party and Umno Sabah for the upcoming state election to contest against present ruling state party, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will not disrupt the stability of the unity government.

GRS Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the cooperation among the component parties which makes up the unity government is clear and bound by a signed agreement.

"I don't see any problem arising as we know (what) our unity government is (made off). I believe this collaboration is only on the state level.

"However, the commitment now is to ensure the stability of the government at the federal level and everyone playing a role is committed to it," he said when met after the Malaysian Goods Carnival 2023 launch here.

Earlier, WARISAN President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal had said that his party would collaborate with UMNO Sabah in the upcoming state elections next year, to oppose the current GRS state government.

He said such collaboration is not impossible, and Warisan has no issue collaborating with UMNO Sabah, if it brings greater good for the Sabahans.

Armizan added that GRS will let the two resolve the matter themselves.

He who is also the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs said it is the two parties right, whether they collaborate or not.

"I don't want to comment because my focus, whether at the state or Federal level, is always working for the people," he said.
