Hamzah: 'PN is keeping calm when others are not'

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin has taken a swipe at a few political foes who are seen as being uncomfortable and concerned by the current political situation.

He said that he can see that there are some who are restless and worried with the country's current political situation.

"These past few days, I heard that there are many who are uncomfortable – nervous and somewhat restless.

"There are those who ran to IJN (National Heart Institute), and there are those who went to Sabah. Just keep calm, the mountain isn't going anywhere," he said in a statement on his social media platform earlier today (Jan 8).

The statement is believed to refer to the action of government supporters following claims by Perikatan Nasional (PN) in having enough support from parliamentarians (MPs) to topple the unity government.

On Friday (Jan 5), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was reported to have visited Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang who has been receiving medical treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

However, the Prime Minister was unable to meet with Abdul Hadi because the Marang member of parliament (MP) was undergoing a dialysis treatment after having to go through a few medical procedures and he was also not allowed to receive any visitors

Anwar still came to IJN as he also visited his friend, Professor Ziauddin Sardar, who happened to be undergoing treatment at another ward at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was reported to have gone to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah to help resolve the political situation there which is said to be in turmoil

Hamzah, who is also Bersatu and PN secretary-general said that he and the Bersatu leadership are calm in facing the current political situation, landscape and climate.

"Alhamdulillah, together with Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin, we had a good and calm meeting with Bersatu's Federal Territories communications unit," he said.

Yesterday (Jan 7), Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor claimed that PN already has enough Statutory Declarations (SDs) to overthrow the unity government

Sanusi, who is also PN's Elections director however did not divulge in detail regarding the number of SD's that have been obtained.
