'When the time comes, a report will be lodged'

KUALA LUMPUR: A Bersatu leader said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission should not pinpoint when Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan should lodge a report on alleged financial remuneration for leaders to switch their allegiance towards the government.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the Tasek Gelugor member of Parliament (MP) would lodge a report when the time comes.

"The MACC has to understand that we are governed under Act 347, the Houses of Parliament Act.

"The MACC should not intervene whether it's one week or two weeks to lodge a police report. When the time comes, a report will be lodged," he told a press conference after the PN MPs and Assemblymen Convention, here, today.

Last week, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said that Wan Saiful has a week to lodge a report and if he failed to do so, action will be taken against him.

Azam had said that Wan Saiful should have made a report to the MACC under Section 25(1) instead of waiting for the anti-graft agency to summon him.

On Feb 28, during the Dewan Rakyat sitting, Wan Saiful claimed to have been threatened and offered rewards in expressing support for the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Without naming any party, he claimed to have been offered rewards, including a claim that RM1.7 million was given for a constituency.
