Home renovations rob us of peace

WEEKENDS and public holidays are when people can rest and enjoy the day with loved ones.

It is sad and frustrating when what is supposed to be a restful and joyful day is spoiled by your neighbour’s home renovation.

The head-splitting sounds of drilling and jack-hammering can ruin your day. If the renovation goes on for weeks and months, your health will be at risk.

Renovations are a nightmare to families with children and sickly elders.

People have a right to renovate their houses, but who gave them the right to hijack other people’s family time on weekends and public holidays?

Permits issued by local municipal and city councils for home renovation should be made known to residents associations.

This way, contractors can work only during permissible hours.

Respect, tolerance and understanding for your neighbour is important to allow residents to live in harmony.
