The green, green grass of homes

One of the biggest concerns for home owners living in a landed property is to decide whether to keep the grass patch that they have in their garden, or fill it up with cement so that they don’t have to worry about the unkempt grass.

But, what if one day they decide to have a small garden of their own in the space they cemented over?

Eco Outdoor Sdn Bhd founder Chris Kooijman said home owners can opt to use artificial grass to cover the cemented area and dress it up with potted plants for a green environment.

Kooijman said more and more households in Malaysia are turning to artificial grass to liven up their garden.

Eco Outdoor offers a range of high-quality artificial grass solutions for landscaping areas like gardens, rooftops and balconies, playgrounds, school sports fields and golf courses.

Some of the projects that the company has supplied artificial grass to are Desa Park City, Weil Hotel (Ipoh) and Setia Eco Park.

“We are creating a green, sustainable and aesthetic outdoor lifestyle,” he told NST Property.

Eco Outdoor works with the Dutch brand Royal Grass which offers the most realistic and natural looking grass in the market.

“Royal Grass strives for zero waste and where possible, re-uses and recycles materials. Their grasses are completely safe for children. They do not contain heavy metals and instead of rubber, sand infill is used,” said Kooijman.

Royal Grass has been accorded the green label by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC). This is the Asia Pacific region’s most established eco-labelling scheme, expressing sustainability as one of the products’ core attributes.

Kooijman said his company will soon introduce Royal Grass Sense into the market.

“Sense is a beautiful, soft and lifelike quality with a voluminous appearance. Sense deals with the prejudices about the appearance of artificial grass. The resemblance is amazing. Every fibre of grass curls in its own way. You won’t notice this isn’t natural grass.

“Every fibre of grass finds its own position in the carpet and behaves independently of the other fibres making your lawn look airy and playful,” he said.
