Not true, says BAM on reports of no new contract for three coaches

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have denied reports that the contracts of three national coaches will not be renewed.

It was reported that the three coaches who are in danger of being axed are men's singles coach Tey Seu Bock, women's singles head coach Indra Wijaya and mixed doubles head coach Paulus Firman.

This comes after former women's doubles head coach Chan Chong Ming tendered his resignation last year to seek greener pastures elsewhere.

In a statement, BAM firmly denied any reports on such decisions.

"A thorough evaluation of the coaching staff and the players is still ongoing, in line with a streamlined and revamped coaching structure," said the statement.

However despite BAM's statement, it was reported by China Press that 47-year-old Indra has already tendered his resignation.

BAM secretary-general Datuk Kenny Goh, however, reiterated that they did not receive any resignation letters from any coaches.

"The news that Indra has resigned is not true as I did not receive anything," said Kenny when contacted.

BAM had brought in Indonesian doubles legend Rexy Mainaky last year to serve as another coaching director besides Wong Choong Hann.

Both Choong Hann and Rexy were told to review the performances of both players and coaches and were only expected to present their reports at the end of the month.

The other coaches in the national setup are Hendrawan, K. Yogendran (men's singles), Loh Wei Sheng (women's singles), Flandy Limpele, Tan Bin Shen (men's doubles), Hoon Thien How (women's doubles) and Teo Kok Siang (mixed doubles).
