Pearly-Thinaah go down fighting in dramatic Malaysia Masters final

KUALA LUMPUR: National badminton pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah fell just short in their bid to land a third World Tour title after losing in the final of the Malaysia Masters today.

Playing in front of a near capacity crowd at the Axiata Arena, the world No 11 duo went down to South Korea's Baek Ha Na-Lee So Hee 22-20, 8-21, 21-17 in the women's doubles decider.

Still, it was a commendable result by Pearly-Thinaah as they are the first Malaysian pair to reach the final since Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty won in 2012.

It is their best result yet this year. They had previously reached the semi-finals at the India Open, Indonesia Masters and German Open earlier this season.

The home fans will now turn to Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun to salvage at least one title. They will play South Koreans Kang Min Hyuk-Seo Seung Jae in the men's doubles final shortly.
