Aaron-Wooi Yik advance into Denmark Open last eight

KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 4 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik are through to the quarter-finals of the Denmark Open after coming from behind to beat Indonesian veterans Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan today.

Aaron-Wooi Yik prevailed 16-21, 21-5, 21-15 at Jyske Bank Arena in Odense to mark their fifth win in 13 meetings in the battle of former world champions.

Aaron-Wooi Yik are now just one win from matching their semi-final outing last year, but they will be hoping to go one better when they face China's newly combined He Ji Ting-Ren Xiang Yi.

For the record, Aaron-Wooi Yik are still without a World Tour title since they started playing together in late 2017.

Meanwhile, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and Vivian Hoo-Lim Chiew Sien were knocked out of their respective last-16 mixed doubles and women's doubles.

World No. 9 Tang Jie-Ee Wei failed to make it two wins on the trot over Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai as they went down 21-15, 21-12.

They defeated the former world champions in the quarter-finals en route to reaching the semi-finals of the Arctic Open last week.

Vivian-Chiew Sien, making their 18th World Tour appearance thus far, are still unable to make it to their first quarter-final of the season, losing by a whisker 21-15, 17-21, 22-20 to Hong Kong's Yeung Nga Ting-Yeong Pui Lam.
