Aaron-Wooi Yik smash into Denmark Open final

KUALA LUMPUR: Will Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik finally end their wait for a World Tour title?

The former men's doubles world champions look set to land their maiden Open crown after reaching the final of the Super 750 Denmark Open on Saturday.

In the semi-finals at the Jyske Bank Arena in Odense, the Malaysians clawed back from a game down to oust homesters Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup 16-21, 21-15, 21-15.

World No 4 Aaron-Wooi will face Indonesia's Muhammad Shohibul Fikri-Bagas Maulana for the title.

The Indonesians world No 14 had earlier upset their world No 1 compatriots Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Rian Ardianto 21-16, 16-21, 21-12 in the other last four match.

Having come close on three occasions this year (India, Indonesia and China Opens), Aaron-Wooi Yik will not want to play second fiddle again, especially when they have never lost to Shohibul-Bagas in all three previous meetings.
