Justin and Roy King out of action due to injuries

KUALA LUMPUR: Justin Hoh and Yap Roy King are troubled by injuries, and signs are they will not be returning to competitive action anytime soon.

Roy King, a men's doubles player, is grappling with a knee injury he sustained during last month's Syed Modi International, while 19-year-old men's singles player Justin picked up another foot injury in the same tournament.

This comes after Justin's previous eight-month hiatus due to an Achilles tendon rupture.

BAM coaching director Rexy Mainaky said: "We are still monitoring Roy King, and in the next two weeks, we should know if he will require surgery.

"As for Justin, he has resumed light training.

"But at the moment, we can't say for sure when he will be back competing."

Roy King confirmed the extent of his injury, citing a medial and lateral meniscus tear in his left knee, along with a strained ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and MCL (medial collateral ligament).

The 22-year-old partners Wan Arif Wan Junaidi in men's doubles and Go Pei Kee in mixed doubles.

In July, Roy King bagged a double with his partners at the National Championships in Bukit Kiara.

Roy King is currently doing light rehabilitation work, focusing on his upper body.
