Zii Jia is 'relieved' that legal battle with Indra is now settled

KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Zii Jia just wants to move on and not dwell on the past.

This was the former All England champion's response to reports that he and his former coach, Indra Wijaya, have decided to settle their dispute outside of court.

"To be honest, I didn't really follow up on this. I left it to my sister (team manager) and lawyer," he said after winning Malaysia's first point in a Group B tie against Taiwan at the Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) in Shah Alam today. Zii Jia defeated Lin Chun Yi 21-16, 21-13.

"But it's positive news. I can move forward, and I'm also a little relieved.

"I wish both sides the best of luck," said Zii Jia.

It was earlier reported that Indonesian Indra would file a lawsuit against Zii Jia after claiming to be unfairly dismissed by Zii Jia's professional team, Team LZJ, in November 2022.

Indra had initially signed a three-year contract to coach Zii Jia until the Paris Olympics in July.

Timesport reported earlier today that both parties, through their lawyers, had reached a mutual agreement to not pursue a court battle.

Separately, Zii Jia admitted that playing Chun Yi was his first real test for this year, and he is looking forward to playing in the BATC quarter-finals,

The BATC is also the Asian qualifiers for the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in April.
