Aiman sidelined by blood clot

LE Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) red jersey winner Nur Aiman Zariff is out of action for the rest of the year after suffering complications from a crash recently.

The Team Sapura Cycling rider from Setiu crashed during training last month but he initially dismissed the injuries as nothing serious.

Sapura team manager Sayuti Zahit, however, said things took a turn for the worse when Aiman began complaining of abdominal pain.

"At first we suspected it could be an appendix issue or gallstones. But when the doctors checked him they found nothing and were perplexed as this kind of thing has not happened before.

"When we requested a CT scan, the doctors discovered there was a blood clot.

"He suffered the blood clot during the crash and it had travelled through his arteries, which is what caused the abdominal pain.

"The doctors have asked him to rest for at least three months.

"He has shown signs of improvement and is able to walk now. Prior to this, he felt a lot of discomfort when standing."

Aiman, 22, entered the history books earlier this year when he became the first Malaysian to win the red jersey (king of the mountains classification) in LTdL.
