Time trial king Aiman Rosli eager to impress with TSG

KUALA LUMPUR: Time trial specialist Nur Aiman Rosli is looking forward to taking his career to the next level with Terengganu Polygon Cycling Team (TSG).

The former Team Sapura Cycling rider signed with the UCI continental side earlier this week and will be competing for them in the UCI Asia Tour next season.

TSG have ended this season as the top ranked team in the UCI Asia Tour for the third year in a row.

Aiman, 24, admitted that he had been eying a spot in the team since becoming a free agent in July.

Sapura were forced to close down in June after failing to secure new sponsorship.

"I had sent in my resume to them (TSG) in July. I have to thank the team for giving me this opportunity.

"I was really hoping to join the team because I knew that they compete in a lot of (international) races.

"I don''t know what expectations they have for me as the season has not yet started but I will definitely try my best to help the team do well.

"My goal is to keep improving myself and aim for better results in future races.

"We are currently undergoing pre-season training," said Aiman today.

Previously TSG only signed local riders who were born in Terengganu but have recently begun to open up slots to riders from other states.

Aiman spent three-and-a-half years with Sapura but had limited opportunities to race during that period due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Despite training on his own for most of the second half of this year, Johor-born Aiman continued display fine form this season.

In July, he won fourth straight national time trial title.

He competed for the national team in last month's Le Tour de Langkawi and was briefly in charge of the white jersey (Asian riders classification) during the fourth stage of the UCI ProSeries event.
