Thousands of Kedah fans scramble for FA Cup final tickets; 12,000 sold in 2 hours

ALOR STAR: More than 3,000 ‘Red Hawks’ Kedah supporters thronged the four counters at Darul Aman Stadium yesterday to buy tickets for the FA Cup final match against Pahang at the Shah Alam Stadium set for this Saturday.

Some Red Hawks supporters even camped overnight to be first in line when the ticketing counters opened at 10am.

Tickets were priced at RM50 for adults and RM5 for children below 12 years of age, and limited to three per person.

Ahmad Firdaus Baharom, 30, from Gurun, said he had camped in front of the stadium since 7pm on Wednesday to make sure he got his hands on a ticket for the much-anticipated match.

"I and some friends laid out mats in front of the ticketing counter. We will travel to Shah Alam on Saturday and hope that Kedah will win the match 2-1," he added.

Another staunch Kedah supporter, Nasir Abbas, 62, said he was happy to get a ticket and pledged to run from Shah Alam Stadium to Darul Aman Stadium if Kedah wins the FA Cup.

"I plan to run for the third time. It may take as long as six days. If I cannot do it immediately, I will do it during Ramadan,” he said.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Ticket Technical and Entrance Committee of Kedah Football Association (KFA), Shaharol Niza Omar, said some 12,000 tickets were sold in about two hours.

Kedah and Pahang were each reserved 32,000 adult tickets and 750 tickets for kids for the final match. -- Bernama
