Brunei forward Faiq Jefri raring to make big impression at KL2017

SEPANG: Brunei forward Faiq Jefri Bolkiah has huge ambitions in the football competition of the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Sea Games.

The 19-year-old, a member of Leicester City's reserve side, believes his team, who have been training since January, have a chance to make a big impression and qualify for the semi-finals.

Brunei, whose only Sea Games semi-final appearance was at the 1983 Singapore edition, will open their Group A campaign against Malaysia on Monday at the Shah Alam Stadium.

Singapore, Myanmar and Laos are the other teams in the group.

"We are fit and in good shape for the Sea Games.

"We played Malaysia last year... they are not bad, but I think we can nick a point when we face them on Monday," said Faiq when he arrived with the Brunei team at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Saturday.

Faiq said Brunei's strength is their attacking force.

"We are good in attack. I will try my best to draw defenders and create space for goals.

"It is important that we do not concede. We will see what happens," he added.
