Cho makes name for himself with quickfire goal

KUNSHAN: South Korean player Cho Jae Wan has put himself in the record books of the AFC Under-23 Championship when he scored the fastest goal in three editions of the championship, and the second fastest in the history of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The Seoul E-Land FC midfielder scored the goal only 11.35 seconds into the match as South Korea took on Malaysia in the quarter-final earlier today, bettering the previous record held by Uzbekistan’s Dostonbek Khamdamov who scored after 11.47 seconds of a match during the 2016 edition of the championship that was held in Qatar.

Cho’s lightning quick strike however is not as fast as Sebastian Soria record fastest goal scored in 2013 in a time of only 9.34 seconds into the match for Lekhwiya against Pakhtakor during an AFC Champions League match in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

South Korea beat Malaysia 2-1 in the quarter-final to advance to the semi-final of the championship where they will take on Uzbekistan on Tuesday for a place in the final.
