KFA should take action

KUALA LUMPUR: The FA of Kedah (KFA) should take the necessary and appropriate action against those who irresponsibly leaked information regarding the team’s players’ salaries on the internet.

The Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) secretary, Ahmad Fauzi Saari sees the action of unscrupulously spreading such information as unprofessional and against values of integrity and professionalism that is championed and called for by the FA of Malaysia and the Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership (FMLLP).

Shaari explained that such information involving salaries is a very sensitive issue and that such actions in publicising it online is an invasion of the players privacy.

“PFAM is very much against such actions of publicising such private and sensitive information by those who are irresponsible, it is an invasion of privacy that should not have happened in the first place.

“Such a leak of sensitive information can also pose a safety risk to the players and their respective families. In fact, the situation could get worse if the information is false as it will bring about negative effects on the players.

“Therefore PFAM strongly urges those responsible for the leak of information to be punished accordingly,” he said via a media statement released earlier today.

Earlier, sensitive information pertaining to the Kedah players’ salaries were published online on social media via a one page document listing the players’ salaries for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

The document also revealed salary increments received by the players for the 2018 season.

The document also purportedly revealed that KFA spends nearly RM1.3 million a month just on the players’ salaries.
