Tengku Amir is officially the new FAS president

KUALA LUMPUR: Newly appointed FA of Selangor (FAS) president Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah is not in a hurry to replace the association's office-bearers.

Tengku Amir, who is the Raja Muda of Selangor, took over the reins uncontested at the association’s extraordinary congress on Tuesday.

He received 81 nominations from 96 affiliates to fill the position vacated by Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal.

Tengku Amir thanked the state affiliates and the Selangor fans for placing their trust in him to revive the team’s fortunes.

"I am doing all this for you (Selangor supporters) and I am also here because of you," said Tengku Amir.

" I have to see what needs to be done. I will prioritise what is necessary, especially in terms of coaching and management to help Selangor reach greater heights.

"I want to take some time to settle in before I decide on anything and will discuss everything at the upcoming executive committee meeting."

Tengku Amir hopes the Selangor team will win their sixth FA Cup title at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.

"I have been following Selangor’s progress and I hope they will win the FA Cup."

Selangor last won the FA Cup in 2009 when they defeated Kelantan 4-1 on penalties in the final.
