Ticket sales takes heavy toll on fans

KUALA TERENGGANU: Six Terengganu fans fainted while waiting for their turn to purchase tickets for Saturday’s Malaysia Cup final at the Sultan Ismail Nasaruddin Shah Stadium today.

Over 5,000 fans flooded the venue with roughly 2,000 crowding the ticket counters.

Syafiq Che Alias, 28, from Kampung Gong Pak Maseh said he arrived at the venue at 4am and queued up two hours later.

"I queued up for more than five hours but gave up as the weather became humid," said Syafiq.

"A 25-year-old woman in front of me fainted and had to be rushed to hospital.

"I was told that she had waited since 11pm last night and did not have the time to eat which caused her to faint."

"Ticket sales should be made more convenient so everyone has a chance to buy them.

"There was also no fencing and control, a lot of people were not queuing up."

Ku Khairi Ku Amri, 24, from Kampung Bukit Tunggal said he had queued up since 9.30pm last night and was in the first row of a counter.

"I feel sad and shocked with the management (of ticket sales). The counters should have been opened earlier and not delayed until those who queued up early had to leave the line because they were already tired," said Khairi.

"I tried my best to stay in the line but could not take it anymore as I had been waiting overnight.

"They said the counters would be opened at 10am but it was moved to 10.30am.

"Usually they start selling at 8am, their actions seem as if they are purposely torturing the fans."

Khairi hopes that the Terengganu FA (TFA) will come up with solutions over ticket sales for the future.
