Raja Muda Selangor: It's too late now to say sorry [NSTTV]

SHAH ALAM: “It’s too late now to say sorry because I have given enough chances, enough warning.”

This was stated by Football Association of Selangor (FAS) president Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at a press conference at Istana Mestika, in Shah Alam today.

The Raja Muda Selangor said this after a group of disgruntled FAS affiliates held an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on Thursday where they elected new office bearers except for the president’s post.

Tengku Amir had come out to clarify the situation and he issued an official statement that dismissed all the decisions made during the EGM.

“I have even invited all 96 affiliates to come here (Istana Mestika) to voice their opinions, and I had it in four sessions because there were too many people but in the end, half didn’t turn up or even try to turn up,” he said.

“They didn’t offer any explanation and the ones who did turn up, they had their own interests. They told me why they are upset.”

Tengku Amir said he explained to them that they could work together to create a good football team.

However, Tengku Amir said he is not worried about the problems that the “rogue faction” might present and that they are only doing it out of their self interest.

“I see what they are doing is childish, it has no legal ground in our statutes.

“They want to carry on and steal FAS away from the fans and that’s all they care about. They don’t care about the fans or football.”

Tengku Amir, who was appointed as FAS president on June 5, described himself as a man whose style is to follow the statutes, as well as not talking too much about things until the work is done.

“I’m just a bit sad because this past month, we’ve wasted enough time on this issue.

“But we still have time before the league starts in February, so we need to select the team and start our pre-season training to get those boys fit and ready to have a real fight,” he said.

Tengku Amir said Selangor have fallen behind schedule in forming their first team for the Super League and in looking for sponsorship.

“How the FAS are to get sponsors when they (sponsors) have lost confidence due to the current situation?

“But we have the confidence, we have the control and we are fixing FAS,” he said.
