Mohamad to carry out post-mortem

KUALA TERENGGANU: Angered by the lackadaisical attitude of his players who did not show urge or desire against Perak SEDC during their match at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu last Saturday, Terengganu’s interim coach Mohamad Nik, together with the team’s other coaches, will carry out a post-mortem to identify the real problem plaguing their side before their clash against northern giants Kedah this Friday.

Mohamad was left very disappointed after failing to lead The Turtles to even pick up a point at home as they went down 2-1 to Perak SEDC, and he will not continue to call on players who do not perform.

While refusing to name the players who failed to perform in the last couple of matches, the former international and Terengganu midfielder will not hesitate to rest such players who perform erratically even if they are regarded as star footballers.

“In the run up to the away match against Kedah at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Star this Friday, we will do a post-mortem immediately to find out the reason behind the players being unable to perform to the best of their abilities.

“I must stress that the players do not seem to be highly motivated and who fail to improve on their performance will be dropped because we want players who are willing to battle and fight it out in order to help the team to win matches,” he said.

Last season in the Super League, Terengganu and Kedah both played out 1-1 draws during their two league encounters.

Speaking further, Mohamad, who has temporarily taken over coaching duties for the team in the absence of coach Irfan Bakti Abu Salim who is away in Kuala Lumpur attending a pro license course, has demanded that the players change their attitude and mindset for the coming matches beginning with their encounter against Kedah.

“The players must bounce back against Kedah to make up for the utter disappointment of losing at home to Perak SEDC last weekend. So our boys must be calmer, focus on maintaining possession and not losing it so easily to our opponents, and most importantly their attitude has to change for the better,” said Mohamad.
