By Farah Azharie

KUALA LUMPUR: Harimau Malaya feel a little fiercer now after the 2-0 win over Nepal in an international friendly at Bukit Jalil on Sunday.

And national coach Tan Cheng Hoe hopes the roar will continue as they prepare for the 2022 World Cup/2023 Asian Cup qualifiers on June 7 and 11 against Timor Leste.

Malaysia, ranked World No 168, defeated World No 161 Nepal 2-0 through a penalty goal by Safawi Rashid in the 51st minute and a header by assistant captain Shahrul Saad eight minutes from time.

Nepal have never beaten Malaysia, with their best result, being a draw against Harimau Malaya n 1985.

Cheng Hoe has told his players not to to be distracted by Hari Raya celebrations.

He hopes the Harimau Malaya can keep their winning momentum.

“I want the players to really focus on the matches ahead though they will be celebrating Hari Raya

“There are definitely areas we need to improve. Our finishing is not sharp enough.

“We are still trying to find the best combinations among the players. The good thing is we can create chances.”
