Suwon coach bemoans lack of competitive matches

SUWON Bluewings could be feeling edgy ahead of today’s AFC Champions League Group G match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.

This is because Suwon have not played enough matches following the postponement of the K-League due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Suwon’s only competitive match this year was the 1-0 home defeat to Japan’s Vissel Kobe, who thrashed JDT 5-1 in their opening match, on Feb 19.

“We have not played a match since the defeat to Kobe. The players have been kept busy in training for this game. It would be great if we can earn a win tomorrow,” said Suwon coach Lee Lim Saeng in Johor yesterday.

“Players like Diogo Santo are very dangerous. JDT have good attacking players.”

Suwon striker Adam Taggart said they are not taking JDT lightly today.

“I heard JDT have eight foreign players (including naturalised players). Their striker is dangerous. The left full-back and the right-winger, who is local, are very good. These are the ones we’re looking at,” said the Australian.
