Tchetche shines as Kedah finish second in the Super League

KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah finished second in the Super League following a 4-1 win over Melaka United at the Darulaman Stadium in Alor Star on Sunday.

With their success, the Red Eagles will play in the AFC Cup next season.

Kedah earned 43 points, two more than third-placed Penang, who drew 2-2 with Terengganu at the City Stadium.

Kipre Tchetche was the toast of Kedah with a brace in the 24th and 28th minutes.

Baddrol Bakhtiar (66th) and Fayadh Zulkifli Amin (69th) added the other goals.

Adriano Aparecido Narcizo scored Melaka's only goal in the 60th minute.

At the City Stadium, Penang, who had a realistic chance of denying Kedah the runners-up spot, scored through Sheriddin Boboev (40th) and Anselmo Arruda da Silva (45th), while Argzim Redzovic (25th) and Lee Tuck (80th) responded for Terengganu, who ended the season in fourth position with 38 points.

At the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, JDT secured a 2-1 win over KL City to celebrate their eighth title.

They earned RM1 million for their efforts.

JDT ended the season with 57 points while KL City finished in sixth on 33.
