Selangor hunting for two foreign hitmen

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor are looking for two foreign hitmen to make their Super League team more deadly next year.

The Red Giants, who recently released eight players from their squad, plan to sign three locals and four imports.

Selangor have let go of Super League's top goalscorer Ifedayo Omosuyi, Swiss Oliver Buff, German Konrad Manuel, goalkeeper Tauffiq Ar-Rashid, rightback Namathevan Arunasalam, goalkeeper Tauffiq Ar-Rashid, defender Shivan Pillay, midfielder Wan Zack Haikal Wan Noor and winger Sean Selvaraj.

Last year's Golden Boot winner Ifedayo is said to be joining Melaka United. He scored 26 goals for Selangor in the Super League.

It is also learnt Selangor will be releasing German defender Tim Heubach.

So far, Selangor have signed a contract extension with midfielder Brendan Gan and named German Michael Feichtenbeiner as head coach of the first team.

Feichtenbeiner will be assisted by compatriot Karsten Neitzel, who coached the first team this season, and Nidzam Jamil.

The Red Giants also announced they have signed long-term contracts with youngsters Sharul Nazeem Zulpakar, Ahmad Danial Asri, Aliff Haiqal Lau, Mukhairi Ajmal and Myanmar's Hein Htet Aung.

Selangor team manager Mahfizul Rusydin Abdul Rashid said they will retain 80 per cent of this season's squad.

For the new season, Selangor have recruited two Jordanian players while retaining Singapoream Safuwan Baharuddin.

This year, Selangor finished fifth in the Super League and bowed out in the Malaysia Cup quarterfinals after losing to KL City 3-5 on aggregate.
