PETALING JAYA: Fallen giants Selangor FC, who haven't been winning titles in the M-League in recent years, happily laid their hands on one today.
Selangor won the Asia Challenge Cup, organised by themselves, in front of 3,711 fans at the MBPJ Stadium
It's a four-club tournament used by Selangor to prepare for the new M-League season which starts next month.
Selangor, coached by Nidzam Jamil, defeated Laotian side, Young Elephants 4-0 for the Asia Challenge title.
Selangor scored through Alvin Fortes (ninth minute), captain Safuwan Baharudin (36th), Faisal Halim (53rd) and Syahir Bashah (75th).
On Friday, the hosts downed
Brunei club DPMM 4-0.
Singapore's Balestier Khalsa finished second after beating Young Elephants 1-0 and drawing 3-3 with DPMM.
The Red Giants were presented with a trophy and a prize of US$10,000 (RM47,665).
