KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor continued their winning form at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) by edging Negri Sembilan 1-0 in a Group A football match at UM Arena here today.
Selangor, who defeated defending champions Perak 1-0 on Monday, lead the standings with six points and have qualified for the quarter-finals.
The Red Giants, who were crowned Youth Cup champions last month, scored through Khairi Suffian Shukri in the 51st minute.
The national youth forward capitalised on a mistake by Negri Sembilan goalkeeper Firdaus Kamal to score the only goal of the match.
Firdaus Tan Aziz's side had a chance to double their lead two minutes later, but Pengiran Ilham Ag Jumaat's attempt rattled the crossbar.
While Selangor have two wins while Negri, who lost 1-0 to FT in their opening game, have yet to collect points in the competition.
