Selangor win again under new coach Cheng Hoe

KUALA LUMPUR: Two matches, two wins. Selangor's new coach Tan Cheng Hoe has certainly put the Red Giants back on track.

They beat MBPJ 1-0 at MBPJ Stadium yesterday with Danial Asri scoring his first goal of the season. Last week, Cheng Hoe in his Selangor debut, came away with a thumping 5-0 win over Melaka.

MBPJ went into the game looking for three points to finish higher than ninth on the table. That is because the ninth-placed team, after the last league game on Oct 15, will have to play mighy Johor Darul Ta'zim in the Malaysia Cup round of 16 on Oct 25.

Cheng Hoe's side had to wait until the 81st minute to record the only goal of the night.

Danial, who came in for Herlison Caion in the 72nd minute, scored that all important goal after a cross from national Under-23 teammate Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi.

Selangor rose to seventh place in the table with the win.

At Likas Stadium, Sabah aiming to finish second in the table, defeated 10-man Penang 4-1.

Captain Baddrol Bakhtiar put Sabah ahead in the 33rd minute. And Penang were reduced to 10 men just before halftime after Rafael Vitor was sent off for fouling Saddil Ramdani

Despite being outnumbered, Penang equalised in the 70th minute through Adib Abdul Raop.

However, Korean Park Tae-su regained the lead for the Rhinos two minutes later. Sabah were awarded a penalty in the 79th minute that was converted by Saddil Ramdani. Stuart Wilkin made it 4-1 a minute from time.

The game between Negri Sembilan and Kedah at Paroi Stadium could not be played due to heavy rain, and is postponed to today.
