Nafuzi determined to bring back Kedah to glory days

ALOR STAR: Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) new head coach, Nafuzi Zain, is determined to carry the responsibility and bring back the glory days of the Sang Kenari squad, despite knowing that it will not be an easy feat.

Nafuzi said he is not afraid of challenges, and that he must face them in order to become a successful and high-calibre football coach.

"Personally, I think as a coach, we need challenges and Kedah is a big team, and to create success I need to go through the journey, even though it is full of challenges.

"I have my way of tackling the challenges. The tactics and formations that will be used will be according to the quality of the players in the team, and that's where all the planning will be done," he said when met here today.

Nafuzi said that he was grateful for the 100 per cent support and trust in him from the KDA FC management, especially in the selection of players.

According to him, the list of players in the KDA FC for this season is mostly inexperienced, but the players possess the qualities needed in the team.

"As head coach, I will try my best to ensure that the team gives its best, and this will be translated in every game they play. How good the player is would depend on the result of every match they play. We will just have to wait and see," he said.

Commenting on the inclusion of Lee Tuck in the team, Nafuzi said that he was confident that Lee Tuck, as an experienced player who knows the ins and outs of the game, can help KDA FC be a better team.

"He (Lee Tuck) is a seasoned player and was with me. He knows how the game is played and he has vast knowledge about the national football league. I know his strengths, including being able to play in many positions, that would definitely be an advantage to the Kedah team," he added. -- Bernama
